Oyster Industry Impact Survey: CDC Salmonella Investigation

On December 23, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced an investigation into a multi-state Salmonella outbreak, noting that some individuals self-reported consuming raw oysters prior to illness. To date, no common source, farm, processor, or state has been identified, and available data do not indicate a confirmed link to any specific producer, processor, or region.

The National Aquaculture Association is seeking input from oyster producers, processors, distributors, and related businesses across the United States to better understand how the ongoing CDC investigation is impacting operations, markets, and customer confidence. Your responses will help ensure that industry impacts are accurately documented and communicated, and that decision-makers have a clear picture of how this situation is affecting businesses throughout the oyster supply chain. We appreciate you taking a few minutes to share your experience and insights.
