PhD Candidate Alex Wright will present a comprehensive study conducted in collaboration with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Antimicrobial Use and Stewardship (AUS) program. The project assessed disease management practices across California's aquaculture industry, with a focus on antimicrobial use in species raised for food. By conducting a literature review, engaging with industry stakeholders, and analyzing survey data, Alex and his team identified key trends and areas for improvement in disease prevention strategies. The results have informed new extension resources, including informational materials and educational videos, aimed at promoting safer, more effective aquaculture practices.
