Do You Know of Unintended Consequences?

Regulations Government Programs

The National Aquaculture Association (NAA) requests your help to identify unintended consequences triggered by the termination of temporary federal employees.

Executive Order 14210, Implementing the President’s ‘‘Department of Government Efficiency’’ Workforce Optimization Initiative, directs federal agencies to achieve Reductions in Force (RIF). Agencies can only hire one new employee for four that are terminated, new hires have to be justified by an agency head, temporary employees are terminated, and all offices that perform functions not mandated by statute or other law shall be prioritized in the RIFs. Public safety, law enforcement, immigration, White House and military personnel are exempted.

Why is this happening?

The NAA supports efforts by the Administration and Congress focused on reducing short term and long-term federal spending. When interest on the national debt exceeds national defense spending, it is time to act.

Unintended Consequences?

Please share factual information with the NAA of the unintended consequences to essential programs critical to the success and sustainability of US aquaculture associated with the termination of temporary federal employees.  Email your information to Paul Zajicek, Executive Director, at naa@nationalaquaculture.org.  Please do not share rumor, assumption or speculation.

If you have questions or comments, please contact Mr. Zajicek.
