Position Title: Oyster Facility Technician – Larvae Setting

Location: Tokeland, WA

About Us:

Goose Point is a family-owned shellfish farm located on Willapa Bay in Bay Center, WA. Our team works

collaboratively to ensure the success of our operations and the health of our ecosystems. Goose Point Oyster

company is a second-generation family oyster farm located in Willapa Bay, Washington. The oyster larvae

that supply the farm are produced in Hawaii by Hawaiian Shellfish and are received and grown to maturity in

Willapa Bay and eventually shucked and distributed by Goose Point Oysters.


Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Oyster Facility Technician with expertise in larvae setting.

This position plays a vital role in the production process, ensuring successful oyster seed development. The

ideal candidate will have experience in aquaculture and a passion for sustainable marine practices.


Key Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of oyster larvae setting, including handling, conditioning, and monitoring larvae

during the setting process.

• Prepare and maintain setting tanks, including cleaning, sterilizing, and setting the correct

environmental parameters (e.g., salinity, temperature, and aeration).

• Monitor and maintain water quality standards to optimize larvae survival and growth.

• Record data related to larvae growth, survival rates, and setting success.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with larvae health, water quality, or setting processes.

• With overhead hoists, load and unload seed cultch from setting tanks.

• Clean and maintain facility equipment and infrastructure to meet operational and biosecurity

standards.

• Work collaboratively with the production team to meet seed production targets.


Qualifications:

• Experience in aquaculture or hatchery operations, specifically with oyster larvae or shellfish

production, is preferred.

• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy equipment and

standing for extended periods.

• Strong observational skills and attention to detail for monitoring larvae and environmental

parameters.

• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Multitasking skills:

• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by production needs.

• Bilingual is a plus.
