2023 Women of the Water Conference Report Posted!
The second Women of the Water conference was held at Mote Marine Lab in Fall 2023. Over the course of two and a half days, participants explored the values of research, community, collaboration, and celebration while bringing together the current and future generations of leaders in aquaculture. They celebrated, uplifted, and empowered underrepresented voices in this industry.
Women of the Water was formed with a vision to build community through connection and empowerment, catalyze learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhance professional development opportunities for marginalized and underrepresented groups in aquaculture.
The 2023 Women of the Water Conference report can be viewed in Canva here and on the AIE group page. Dive in to see their mission in action, the community, data on the perceptions of women and underrepresented identities in the aquaculture industry, and what’s next for them.
The Women of the Water co-directors will be chairing a session at the upcoming Aquaculture Triennial conference in New Orleans - Women and Underrepresented Identities in Aquaculture. To learn more or to submit a talk for the session, please email marcy.cockrell@noaa.gov.
