Aquaculture America 2025 Call for Session Abstracts: Quantification and Valuation of Ecosystem Services Associated with Shellfish

Aquaculture America

Conference: Aquaculture America 2025 on March 6-10, 2025 in New Orleans, LA

Session title: Quantification and valuation of ecosystem services associated with shellfish.

Session Chair: Matt Parker-UMD

Natural, restored, and cultivated shellfish populations are known to provide a host of ecosystem services, including water filtration, nutrient reduction, shoreline stabilization, and habitat provision. Shellfish can benefit local and regional economies through job creation associated with aquaculture, increases in recreational opportunities and property values through improvement of environmental conditions, and fisheries enhancement through increased habitat.

Presentations within this session could include (but are not limited to) topics such as primary quantification and valuation of ecosystem services, restoration, and cultivation practices that enhance ecosystem services provisioning, and efforts to incorporate ecosystem services into regulatory frameworks and cultural services to communities.

Submit abstracts by Sept 30, 2024 through the meeting website.
