Aquatic Animals to the European Union: New Classification for Susceptible and Vector Species

The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) was notified that the European Commission has amended the list of aquatic species they consider susceptible to, or vectors for, the European Union’s (EU) pathogens of concern.

Note: there is no “transition period,” as the amended list is effective immediately (February 1, 2024). For non-EU countries that follow EU regulations, exporters are advised to contact the Border Control Post in advance to confirm import requirements.
